SWTWC Co-Sponsors Webinar on Electric Vehicles in High School Curricula

November 4, 2016

The Southwest Transportation Workforce Center (SWTWC), one of the METRANS family of centers, and the Northeast Transportation Workforce Center (NETWC) are co-sponsoring a November 10 webinar on how electric vehicles are being incorporated into high school curricula. As the nation moves toward having more vehicles powered by electricity and alternative fuels and away from traditionally petroleum-powered vehicles, exposing students to electric vehicles will help inform and inspire the upcoming workforce to move into transportation and advanced automotive careers. This webinar will highlight three high school programs that have successfully integrated electric vehicle curriculum into their offerings, meeting students at a critical time for career pathway exploration into this field.

Abby Bleything, Vermont Clean Cities Coalition Coordinator, will be the moderator of this webinar. Presenters include:

  • Charlie Garlow & Nabih Bedewi, organizers of the Washington, D.C., Electric Vehicle Grand Prix for high school students in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia;
  • Simon Hauger, Co-Founder and current principal at The Workshop School in Philadelphia, PA, and leader of the EVX Team (Philly Hybrid X Team);
  • Eric Padget, Assistant Principal of Career and Technical Education, Garden Grove Unified School District in Garden Grove, CA; and
  • Andrea Zimmermann, Senior Associate, Member Engagement and Leadership Development, Advance Career and Technical Education (CTE), Silver Spring, Maryland.

Date: November 10, 2016

Time: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM PST
