Workforce Initiatives

In response to findings in the Job Needs and Priorities, Phase 1: Southwest Region Report, SWTWC developed strategic workforce initiatives to address the identified workforce gaps in the Southwest region. The workforce initiatives align with SWTWC’s mission, values, and focus areas, as well as its 13 priority occupations for the region.

Furthermore, members of the SWTWC Steering Committee worked in action subcommittees to advance four strategic workforce development action plans:

  1. Promoting Apprenticeship Programs for the 21st Century;
  2. GIS Tribal Training Initiative;
  3. Promoting Awareness of Trucking Occupation; and
  4. Supply Chain Diversity.

For further details about each action plan – including the plan’s corresponding priority occupation, target audience, implementation steps, and expected impact – please visit the corresponding compendium links, related partnerships, and the Ask the Experts section.
