The geospatial industry has been identified by the Department of Labor as a high-growth industry. SIPI offers two different programs in geospatial technology: an Associate of Applied Science degree and a certificate in GIT.

The associate in applied science degree prepares students to enter the geospatial industry at an entry level position with a solid basic understanding of the principles and practical aspects of geospatial technology. These technologies are taught as they related to a wide range of fields, including Natural Resources, Renewable Energy, Land Management, Business and others, enabling students to find employment in a variety of fields. The GIT program also prepares those students who want to pursue further education in GIT or related fields at a four-year university.

The certificate program enables students to complete a certificate and then pursue the AAS degree program in GIT or in other degree programs and acquire enough credits in GIT to work towards GISP certification. The GIT certificate program is also designed so people already in the tribal workforce may easily obtain certification in a minimal amount of time with fewer overall hours.
